Luck and being “lucky”
It cannot be said with any definite idea what makes one lucky in gambling making him win with minimum exposure to casino while another who has visited the casino innumerable times, has always emerged unlucky, losing all his dough. It is a tricky issue – luck and being “lucky” – intrinsically related to gambling and yet the mystery remains unsolved throughout the history of gambling.
However there is perhaps one way that the principle of luck and being “lucky” can be approximately examined, understood and regulated. When one spends greater time in the casino playing non-stop, the chance factor seems to work lesser. So when one has been playing for over 20-30 sessions he has greater chance of being unaffected by luck although the chances of his winning or losing can be dramatically changed even then. However after almost a couple of hundred casino sessions, when one gets the hang of the situation better, he may, with skill and knowledge regulate his win without blindly depending on luck and being “lucky”.
So there is a concept of mathematical probability that governs the concept of luck and being “lucky” to a certain extent. However the main attraction of gambling is that it can never be certainly said what constitutes the win-loss chance. Whether one is a seasoned player or an average one or a rookie, no amount of precision in mathematical formula can determine an outright winner. One may be in a state of advantage by registering recurrent wins, yet until several hundred hours have passed, true results of any gambling game cannot be determined. After all there is some truth in the saying that gambling is all about luck and being “lucky”. So it as really a gamble to predict result of a game as the elusive luck factor can override every other calculation.
